Breaking Bonaduce Down

WYSP disc jockey and reality star regular Danny Bonaduce is featured in this month’s Philadelphia magazine.

Time for 3, 6, 10, and 29 to Care About Sports Again

Now that Villanova will be going to the Final Four, the local stations will jump on the bandwagon and pretend they care about sports again.

Just stick with Comcast SportsNet with Dean’s Lister Neil Hartman.

New Voice on Oldies

Philly radio veteran Joe Mama debuted on WOGL 98.1-FM Sunday for “I Love the 70′s.”  Mama takes over for Cadillac Jack, who has been working six day weeks, since replacing the late Big Ron O’Brien on the 3 – 7 p.m. weekday shift a few months ago.

Many remember Joe Mama from his days on Q102 and Jammim’ Gold 95.7-FM.

In New Economy, Sex and the City Movie Out of Style

With the awful economy of these days, the celebration of designer clothes, handbags, and shoes in “The Sex and the City” movie, which debuted on HBO this weekend, seemed very dated bordering on obscene.

Maybe in the sequel, they should lose all their money.

Eskin vs. Missanelli

I’ve received a few emails regarding the battle between WIP 610-AM’s Howard Eskin and ESPN 950-AM’s Mike Missanelli from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Although, overall WIP holds a substantial lead in the ratings for the rest of the day, Missanelli is giving Eskin some competition.

We are hearing that he is beating Eskin in the younger male demographics (18-34) and sometimes beats him in the overall ratings.

However, Howard still continues to lead in the overall ratings the majority of the time.

As for the rest of the day, it is absolutely no contest as the mixture of ESPN’s shows and local shows are not registering with the Philly audience.

Of course, many remember the awkward pairing of Eskin and Missanelli in the afternoon years ago on WIP.

Since then, Eskin has continued on WIP, while Missanelli bounced from mid-days on WIP to WMMR (remember the Philly Guys?), back to WIP, to ESPN radio in NYC, then to WPEN.

My TV Schedule For Thursday

It will be a busy Thursday, as I plan to watch the American Idol results show at 8 on Fox (Goodbye Michael Sarver?), The Office at 9 on NBC, and Villanova-Duke at 9:57 on CBS.

I’ve tried to get into 30 Rock at 9:30 p.m. on NBC, but don’t enjoy it as much as The Office.

DeBella Signs For Three Years with WMGK

John DeBella, whose career seemed over when he lost the radio ratings war to Howard Stern in the 90′s, signed a new three year contract to continue mornings on WMGK, where he has been since 2002.

‘MGK has many Philly favorites including Debbi Calton, Andre Gardner, Ray Koob, and John “Bubba” Stevens.

CSN’s Nova Coverage

Comcast SportsNet will air a halftime show during Thursday night’s Villanova-Duke game with Marshall Harris,  CSN basketball analyst John Celestand and Dionte Christmas of Temple.  Then at the conclusion of the game, CSN will air a postgame show called “Cat Call.”

Also, Neil Hartman, who is the go-to guy for college basketball on CSN, will be filing reports from Boston.

Tip-off is on CBS at 9:57 p.m. Thursday.

DelcoCalendar.com Launched

I wanted to let everybody know about a new website called www.delcocalendar.com.  Here’s the official release:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Interactive Website for Delaware County Businesses and Residents

MEDIA, Pennsylvania (March 26, 2009)

Delaware County businesses and organizations may post their events and news to the new website, www.DelcoCalendar.com, which launched in February 2009.

“We built it because we saw a need”, said Jennifer Kennedy, manager www.DelcoCalendar.com.  “As people turn to each other for community in tough economic times, we had an idea to try to make it a little easier.”

Today, DelcoCalendar.com is infused with tools to share events with friends with an easy e-mail button as well as plenty of social bookmarking links such as Digg, Newswire, Facebook and Yahoo.  The calendar website was optimized for Delaware County local internet searches and is doing well in the rankings.

Events are organized in categories, ranging from performing arts to business, fitness to shopping, and seniors to kids, and when you post events you can choose all that apply.  Email alerts are also organized by category.

Taking a “grass roots” approach, www.DelcoCalendar.com also offers opportunities for sponsorships.

DelcoCalendar.com provides a community resource for local happenings throughout Delaware County.  Visit the website to start receiving the email newsletter and find out what’s happening in Delaware County.

Contact Jennifer Kennedy via email at Manager@ArtsENews.net or call 484-478-0564.
