CBS3 Philling Void at 4 PM

Dr. Phil-adelphia is taking advantage of Oprah’s departure from television.

From CBS3:

Dr. Phil, the new leader in daytime talk, made a strong showing in his first season in Oprah’s old time period at 4 p.m. in Philadelphia, according to the November 2011 Nielsen ratings.  The good doctor was number one in ratings in Adults 25-54, up 75 percent over 2010 and Women 25-54, up 175 percent over the previous year, beating out WPVI’s 4 p.m. newscast in those key demographics.

Here’s some other November sweeps news from CBS3:

The good news for CBS 3 actually started earlier in the day where Eyewitness News Anchors  Ukee Washington and Erika von Tiehl, Meteorologist Katie Fehlinger and Traffic Reporter Bob Kelly saw gains across the board.  Early morning news ratings are up 25 percent in Adults 25-54 and 25 percent in Women 25-54 from 4:30 to 5 a.m.  In the 5 to 7 a.m. block, ratings rose 9 percent in Women 25-54 and 33 percent in Adults 25-54.  As the newscast continued on The CW Philly from 7 to 9 a.m., so did the good news with gains of 100 percent in Adults 25-54 and 100 percent in Women 25-54.

Talk Philly, CBS 3’s popular noon program, hosted by Ukee Washington and Pat Ciarrocchi, showed gains among Women 25-54, up 14 percent in that demographic.

CBS 3’s newscasts also showed gains at 5 and 6 p.m. where the station is number two in the time period as did Eyewitness News at 10 on The CW Philly, up 5 percent in Adults 25-54 and 20 percent in Women 25-54.

CBS 3’s Eyewitness News at 11 finished the rating book in second place, closing the gap to just 1.1 rating point behind WPVI in the Adults 25-54 demo.  The station was also number one in prime time in both households and Adults 25-54.

The Fall has also been a banner period for CBSPhilly.Com. The website is on pace for a record November with an increase both in page views and unique visitors.

“It’s gratifying to see our news audience continue to grow across both stations and across all time periods,” says President and General Manager Jon Hitchcock.

“I believe our growth goes hand-in-hand with the advocacy position we have taken in our newscasts,” adds Susan Schiller, Vice President and News Director for both stations. “I think that viewers are becoming aware that we will go the extra mile, that “On Your Side” is more than a tag line, but our philosophy in the way we approach our work.”

CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and The CW Philly (WPSG-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.

Your speech was a great blend of things every blogger should know,
combined with a lot of inside information the average college junior or
senior just doesn’t have access to, so thanks very much. They really
got a lot out of it.

Families of Karin Phillips, Former Community Affairs Reporter, and Jack O’Rourke, Former Sports Reporter for the Philadelphia Phillies, accepted the awards on their behalf.

During the ceremony Bob Kelly, former Account Executive began by saying, “When I started we didn’t make money for 2 years, and morning drive was $40 a spot!” He continued on to say, “I was here for 25 years, I loved every minute of it and it’s a great honor.”

Karin Phillips mother, Dorris Phillips said through tears, “It’s a real honor and I know Karin would be proud and happy. She loved what she did and she loved the people.”

To honor some of the great people who’ve been on the air or behind the scenes, KYW Newsradio began the Hall of Fame. Many employees have worked alongside of these folks, heard tales about them or are influenced by them still today. There is no doubt that there have been several legendary people who have made KYW what it is today. Bob Kelly, Karin Phillips and Jack O’Rourke now join Bill Bransom, Dick Covington, Bobbie Daly, Mark Helms, Don Lancer, Andrea Mitchell, Roy Shapiro, and Sandy Starobin in the KYW Newsradio Hall of Fame.

Poor NBC

Poor NBC which already has plenty of problems in primetime – they just ended production of Prime Suspect, and are revamping their lineup in January, won’t catch a break Sunday, as the Eagles-Giants game probably won’t feature Michael Vick.
