PHILADELPHIA, PA – August 16, 2013 – NBC10 Philadelphia announced today that veteran journalist Jim Rosenfield will join the station as 4 PM, 6 PM and 11 PM weeknight anchor starting September 9. Rosenfield comes to Philadelphia from NBC-owned WRC in Washington, D.C., where he has been a weekend anchor and reporter.
An Emmy-award winning journalist, Rosenfield will share the evening anchor desk with NBC10 veterans Renee Chenault-Fattah and Vai Sikahema, as well as Jacqueline London, who joined NBC10 in March 2013.
During his time at WRC, Rosenfield was an integral part of the station’s team coverage of Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath. He covered the Paula Broadwell/General Petraeus story as it broke and was part of NBC4′s live coverage of President Obama’s second inauguration in January, where he reported throughout the event from the presidential reviewing stand on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Before WRC, Rosenfield was in New York, where he served as an evening anchor/reporter for WNBC and later WCBS. He was the recipient of two Emmys and was honored with the first Father Mychal Judge Award from the New York Press Club for his coverage of the aftermath of 9/11. He was also recognized by the New York press for his anchoring of breaking news coverage of Governor Elliot Spitzer’s resignation.
“Jim is a consummate journalist who is respected by his peers as a true professional,” said Anzio Williams, Vice President of News for NBC10. “I’m looking forward to introducing him to our viewers and welcoming him to the NBC10 family.”
A 30-year veteran of broadcast journalism, Rosenfield got his start in 1981 as reporter for WTVD in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, where he eventually became weekend anchor. He later moved on to anchor positions at KTRK in Houston, Texas and WLS in Chicago, Illinois.
Rosenfield holds a B.A. in English from Duke University, where he also served as a 2011 Alumni Fellow in the university’s Office of Public Affairs & Government Relations.
