Charley Casserly of CBS will join Gus Johnson for the Eagles Television Network preseason broadcasts beginning August 8 for the Eagles-Steelers game.

Casserly is part of “The NFL Today” on CBS.

According to a 6ABC spokesperson, Shawn Andrews decided back in April that he did not want to return for the 6ABC Eagles’ postgame show, “Eagles Football Frenzy.”

Linebacker Omar Gaither will join Gary Papa and Keith Russell this season.

This week, Andrews disclosed he was diagnosed with depression.

No word yet on whether the news about Shawn Andrews’ depression will affect his role as the player reporter on 6ABC’s “Football Frenzy” this season with Gary Papa.

Jenna Wolfe has come quite a long way since her days as weekend sports anchor at WB17.  Today she interviewed secretary of state Condoleeza Rice on NBC’s “The Today Show.”

Thanks to On Demand, I caught up on the first season of Mad Men, which is great!

The second season, which premiered on Sunday, airs every Sunday at 10 p.m. on AMC.

I am also loving “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List,” which airs every Thursday at 10 p.m. on Bravo.   There is at least one LOL moment every show.

After the story, co-anchor Dawn Stensland said “What’s wrong with people?”

I wonder if Dawn thought that about her husband?

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Mid-Atlantic Chapter
today announced that it is moving the date of its Emmy® nomination party in
Philadelphia to Wednesday, August 6, 2008, so that members can attend services for legendary anchor and reporter Edie Huggins.  Huggins, who spent 42 years working at WCAU and NBC10, died July 29, 2008.  Her services are being held on Tuesday,
August 5, 2008, which was originally the same night as the Emmy® nomination party.

Many of our NATAS board members, members of the organization and
colleagues of Edie’s in Philadelphia are planning to attend her services.  Out of
espect for Edie and for our members, we are moving the PHILADELPHIA
nomination party to Wednesday, August 6 at 6:30pm at the Field House.  The change
only involves PHILADELPHIA.  Pittsburgh and Harrisburg will continue their
celebrations as planned Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at 6:30pm.

 We ask you to help us spread the word about this change in Philadelphia and
hope this will allow our members to attend both events. 

While we are saddened that this honor will be given posthumously, we are honored to celebrate Edie’s professional life, her dedication to community service and
advocacy for social causes at the Emmy® Awards on September 13, 2008.

 On Tuesday, August 5, following the nomination parties in Pittsburgh and
Harrisburg, the Emmy® nominees from those markets will be posted on
our website at www.natasmid-atlantic.org.  

On Wednesday, August 6, following the Philadelphia nomination party,
the full nomination list will be posted along with our press release.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Edie’s family and to her colleagues in
Philadelphia.  We look forward to celebrating excellence in broadcasting and
appreciate your support and understanding.

I am disappointed that my favorite show of the summer, Swingtown, was relegated to Friday nights.

The drama, which is a refreshing change of pace from all the “CSIs”, “Law and Orders,” and other procedurals, brings us back to the 70’s.  And it has the best soundtrack on TV!
