CBS 3 RECEIVES AP’S PRESTIGIOUS JOE SNYDER AWARD
FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR
FOR BEST NEWS SERVICE IN THE STATE
Philadelphia, April 15, 2008- CBS 3’s Eyewitness News has won the top honor among major market television stations for the third consecutive year in the Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association competition.
CBS 3 (KYW-TV) was named the winner of the prestigious Joe Snyder Award for providing the best news service in the state of Pennsylvania. This is the third time in a row CBS 3 has won the Snyder Award. The station earned 12 awards overall including seven first-place honors. Its first place honors included: Best Newscast (Eyewitness News at 11), Best Spot News, Best Continuing Coverage, Best Sportscast, Best Sports Photography, Best News Documentary and Best Feature. Outstanding work cited included Larry Mendte’s moving Memorial Day documentary about local soldiers killed in Iraq. The special included the photograph of everyone who was lost to the war. Also honored was the station’s coverage of the tragic shooting of Officer Chuck Cassidy and its fundraising efforts for Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
