The annual 65-mile bike ride from Philadelphia to Atlantic City raises funds to support the children of Philadelphia’s fallen police officers. The NBC 10 team raised over $2,000. Deanna says the teams energy started flagging around mile 50, but everyone became instantly energized when they spotted the casinos of Atlantic City on the horizon. “Our team was awesome!” says Durante, who was thrilled that the team stuck together towards the end and crossed the finish line together. Plans are already in the works for next year’s ride.

FULL OF HOT AIR…FOR A GOOD CAUSE
On August 25th, Terry Ruggles and Aditi Roy will take part in their biggest ‘Take This Job’ challenge yet. They’ll be part of the 12 person ground crew
for the Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey Blimp. The role of the ground crew is critical to the 132-foot airship as it is lifted and landed by hand.
This year’s blimp (one of only 20 in the world) will be dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of mammogram screenings. The airship will be
outfitted in pink and supports the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Central and Southern New Jersey. ‘Take this Job’ airs every Wednesday at 5:45am & 6:45am
in NBC 10 News Today.
Terry Ruggles will be attending the Salvation Army’s ‘Christmas in July’ event, this coming Thursday, July 29th.
Terry will be ringing the bell by that famous red kettle near the clothespin at 15th and Market from 12-1pm.
‘Christmas in July’ is in it’s 2nd year. The red kettles are prevalent during the holiday season, but this annual event’s goal
is to keep donations steady during the summer months when there’s still a strong need for assistance in Philadelphia communities.
Famed Documentarian Ken Burns will be a guest on The 10! Show on Wednesday, July 28th.
He’ll be discussing his new film The Tenth Inning, a follow-up to 1994’s award-winning documentary Baseball.
The 10! Show airs every weekday at 11am!
