CBS3 Hires New Reporter

From CBS3:

Philadelphia, July 13, 2010 – Jericka Duncan will join CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and The CW Philly’s (WPSG-TV) Eyewitness News team as a general assignment reporter in August , Vice President and News Director Susan Schiller has announced.

Duncan is currently a reporter for WIVB-TV, the ABC station in Buffalo,  where she has been on-air since August, 2007.  Previously, she was an anchor/reporter for WETM, the NBC station in Elmira, New York from 2005 until 2007.

“Jericka is quickly becoming a rising star in our industry,” Schiller says.  “We are happy to have her join the CBS team in Philly where we know she will be an asset to both stations.”

A second generation broadcaster, Duncan grew up in newsrooms shadowing her father, Ronnie Duncan, a popular sports anchor now on-air at WAAY in Huntsville, Alabama.

She is a 2005 graduate of Ohio University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications while on athletic scholarship there.  A standout track and field star in high school and college, Duncan set several state and college records including the record for the 100 meter hurdles at Ohio University which still stands.

In 2005, while still a student, she was awarded an NAACP Image Award for her academic and athletic achievements.  She has racked up honors in the industry as well including a New York State Broadcasters Association Award for Best Spot News Coverage in 2007 and a local Emmy Award in the Best Morning Show category for winter storm coverage in 2008.

CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and The CW Philly (WPSG-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.

It’s great to have Darren Daulton back with appearances on Comcast SporstNet and ESPN 950, but somebody needs to tell him to spend less time in the sun.

His way too tan appearance for television is distracting.
