GH Survives Soap Purge

Hopefully, a couple of characters from All My Children and One Life To Live will move to Port Charles.

Remember when game shows dominated daytime television?  Things change.

  1. THE NETWORKS SHOULD BORROW FROM CBS’ PAGE AND REVISE SEVERAL CLASSIC GAME SHOWS AS OPPOSED TO TALK SHOWS THAT PEOPLE WILL ONLY TUNE OUT OF SIX MONTHS AFTER THEIR DEBUT AND JUDGE SHOWS??? GIVE ME A FREAKIN BREAK! TOO MANY OF THEM! BRING BACK JOKERS WILD AND CARD SHARKS PLEASE! JUST PUT THEM ON FOR A HALF HOUR EACH!

And not for the better. I cringe every time a soap is canceled. I’ve watched Days of Our Lives for 43 years & will be so upset when it’s canceled. Every time it comes up for renewal, I hold my breath. It’s such a shame. Even though most people work during the day, most of them either record or watch their soaps online or on SoapNet [soon to be gone, too]. What we don’t need are more boring talk shows or cooking shows.

  3. There’s “too many” judge or talk or cooking (or whatever) shows (just as there were once “too many” game shows and soaps for many peoples’ tastes) for a simple reason–they get enough viewers to be profitable. When that stops happening, as with every genre, they’ll go away (whether permanently or as part of a cyclical pattern) remains to be seen.
