New Local Channel


The half-hour show will focus on the fun, food, festivities and flair of the beloved island and its twin towns, Avalon & Stone Harbor, NJ

PHILADELPHIA – (JUNE 2, 2011) – Lenfest Media Group’s WMCN-TV is pleased to announce its new show “7 Mile TV” highlighting the color and character of Avalon & Stone Harbor, NJ, collectively known as 7 Mile Island.   “7 Mile TV” premieres this Saturday, June 4th at 8:30pm on WMCN-TV  (Channel 19 in Cape May County) and is hosted by Kyle Gallagher and Jessica Cicchitti, both natives of South Jersey.

In efforts to bring local original programming to its Atlantic City-based broadcast network, Lenfest Media Group hired former Comcast-executive Jon Gorchow in March.   “We are excited to test the waters in original programming with a show like ‘7 Mile TV’ that highlights beach towns, which are in our community and are extremely popular to many of the viewers within our broadcast reach stretching across the Delaware Valley and South Jersey,” says Gorchow. “It will be an entertaining show, while at the same time will shed a much better light on the Jersey shore,” says Gorchow, referring to MTV’s “The Jersey Shore” based in Seaside Heights, NJ. 

Local Emmy Award-winning producer, Melissa Kennedy, serves as Executive Producer of “7 Mile TV” and is a partner at Hoopla Marketing & PR, based in Philadelphia.  Shelley Kanther and Amanda Wozniak, also partners at Hoopla Marketing & PR, are serving as producers of “7 Mile TV” as well.   All three women previously worked for CN8, The Comcast Network and are eager to bring more local programming back to the region.  “Having been a part of the success of many shows at CN8, we are thrilled to be working on this project for the summer.  We grew up visiting 7 Mile Island and have many friends there, so this is a natural for us,” says Kennedy.   Hoopla Marketing & PR will also oversee the publicity for “7 Mile TV.”

In the premiere episode of “7 Mile TV,” hosts Kyle and Jess speak with Scott Wahl and Ed Dean, Avalon’s Public Information Officer and Fire Chief respectively to learn about events and happenings this month.   The fun-loving hosts also drop by a new Avalon restaurant, “Beach Burger” and visit a favorite old-school surf shop, “Sun Catcher.”   Definitely not to be missed is their visit to the upscale women’s clothing store in Stone Harbor, “The Free Shop,” for lessons in a “Guy Approved” summer wardrobe. Also catch Kyle’s learning experience at Stone Harbor’s hidden gem, the beautiful bird sanctuary. See all that – and much more – this Saturday at 8:30pm on WMCN.

  1. This sounds seriously awful. Lets see — a bunch of castoffs from ill-fated CN8 doing lame interviews with the “Director of Public Info” of Avalon….. Why would anyone ever watch this rubbish? Kudos to the PR firm for stealing marketing $$$ from “Lenfest Media”. I sure hope “Lenfest” has money hidden under the mattress….
