Former Philly Anchor on Jeopardy

Sharp-eyed viewers may have noticed former WCAU news anchor Deborah Knapp  giving a clue on Jeopardy last week. Knapp co-anchored with Larry Kane on Channel 10 in the mid-80’s. These days Knapp is a news anchor in San Antonio, Texas.

Re-Boot Fever

With the success of the re-boots of All in the Family and The Jeffersons, it got me thinking about what other classic sitcoms could be redone.

My choices:

Alice with Connie Britton as Flo

Three’s Company with Whoopi Goldberg as Mrs. Roper

One Day at a Time with Bryan Cranston as Schneider

Maude with John Legend singing the theme song

Brady Bunch Trailblazers

The television world is abuzz about the live re-boot of All in the Family and The Jeffersons, but re-enacting a television show verbatim was done back in the early 90’s with Real Live Brady Bunch, which ran off Broadway.  The hilarious take on The Brady Bunch featured future stars Jane Lynch as Carol and Andy Richter as Mike.

Final Answer – Millionaire Done

I’m sorry to hear that Who Wants to Be a Millionaire will not return in the fall on ABC stations. Although it has been many years since it was the big prime time sensation, I’m always sad to see it go. I’m proud to say that I was a contestant back in its hey day in 2000. Unfortunately,  I couldn’t get past the fastest finger round to make it to the hot seat.

At least ABC will be bringing back its prime time Fun and Games with Celebrity Family Feud, To Tell The Truth, $100,000 Pyramid, Match Game and new additions Holey Moley and Card Sharks in June. Joel McHale takes over Card Sharks from legendary game show host Jim Perry.

And in other game show news, Jeopardy champion James Holzhauer returns Monday night!

Magazines Are Still Hanging In There

AARP Widens Its Lead as America’s Most-Read Magazine

The subscriptions in my household include: People magazine, Philadelphia magazine, and Entertainment Weekly.

AARP is the most popular magazine with around 30 million subscribers. Netflix is the most popular streaming service with over 100 million subscribers.

The Big Three For Three More Years

Fittingly, “The Big Three” of This is Us will continue for three more years on NBC.  My favorite versions of each of “The Big Three” are adult Kate, teen Kevin, and child Randall.

Howard Stern Publicity Tour

Howard Stern can be found on many shows this week promoting his book Howard Stern Comes Again.

CBS Sunday Morning – aired on Sunday, but can be found online

Good Morning America and Nightline – ABC, GMA aired Monday morning

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon – Wednesday at 11:30 p.m. on NBC

The View – Wednesday at 11 a.m. on ABC

I think the true love of Howard’s life is his on-air partner of three decades, Robin Quivers.
