Jayson Stark Joins Jody Mac’s Rotation

ESPN baseball writer Jayson Stark will appear on Jody McDonald’s show on ESPN 950 every Monday at 9:30 a.m. 

He can also be heard on the “Mike and Mike” show every Tuesday at 8:20 a.m.

Stark’s latest book, “The Stark Truth:  The Most Overrated and Underrated Players in Baseball History” is available at amazon.com.

Susanne LaFrankie Update

Former Channel 6 medical reporter and WPHT 1210-AM talk show host Susanne LaFrankie will be graduating in May from La Salle University with a Master’s Degree in Professional Communication.

LaFrankie is a partner in the media consulting company BrowningLaFrankie, and teaches on occasion at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Don Tollefson Injured in Car Accident

Fox29 sports director Don Tollefson could be out of work for the next month after injuring his shoulder in a car accident last week.  Fox, which only has two full-time sportscasters will likely be utilizing weekend anchor Bill Vargus and fill-in guy Joe Staszak.

Phillies Lose, but Win in the Ratings

The Phillies home opener on CBS3 drew a 9.1 rating/19 share of the audience for 269,000 viewers Monday.  That is a 90% increase over last year’s home opener.

CBS Affiliate in NYC Cancels Sunday Night Show, Could CBS3 Be Next?

Although New York City’s CBS2 just canceled its Sunday night sports show, CBS3 in Philadelphia said it will not cancel its show, “Sports Zone.”

CBS3 only has two full-time sportscasters, Beasley Reece and Don Bell.

Fox29 cut back its Sunday night sports show, “Sports Sunday” a few months ago.

Phillies Primer for Opening Day

In case you haven’t heard, today is Opening Day for the Phillies. Here’s your television primer:

Noon – Sports Day – Comcast SportsNet

1 p.m. – Meet the Phillies – Comcast SportsNet

2 p.m. – Phillies Clubhouse – Comcast SportsNet

2:30 p.m. – Phillies Pregame Live – Comcast SportsNet

3 p.m. – Phillies vs. Nationals – CBS3

Comcast SportsNet will broadcast 103 regular season games this season.  Mitch Williams will be the primary “Phillies Post Game Live” analyst.  John Marzano and Dave Gallagher will also analyze some games.

Last year, the Phillies garnered their highest ratings in their 11 years on CSN, with a 5.5 rating, an average of around 163,000 viewers.
