ESPN 950 Misses Out on Hometown Connection

Even though 950-AM is an ESPN station now, unfortunately it is not airing “The John Kincade Show,” which airs on ESPN Radio nationally on Sunday mornings from 7 a.m – 10 a.m.

Broomall, PA native Kincade, a graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School and Temple University co-hosts “The Buck and Kincade” show with former University of Georgia quarterback Buck Belue weekdays from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Atlanta’s 680 “The Fan.”

Instead, during that time, 950-AM airs paid programming.

  1. Why would a sports station not air sports programming? Plus, they get a bit of a local angle with a Philly guy hosting a national radio show! 950 has to change this up. I’ve caught Kincade doing The Herd often over the past few years on SIRIUS. he makes no bones about his love for the birds. Did 950 ever make a run at him Laura? How does the Atlanta market compare to Philly? How did he get picked to do national work when he lives in the South? Does he fly to Bristol every weekend for that gig?

  2. Dear Justin,

John has a special line in his home in Atlanta, so he doesn’t have to travel to Bristol to do his show.

I’ve heard him and think he’s very good. He is funny!

  3. It would be nice to hear sports talk on the
weekends. However, Bob Deblois feels no
one listens early on the weekend mornings.

I will not listen to Missanelli either. I refuse
on Wed he interviews Mayor Nutter about
why he is backing Hilary or Obama. On Friday
he would give the name of a college and then
you would tell the celebrity who went there.
Whose idea was it to hire this pompous ass?
He did nothing for you on MMR why sports
talk? Someone please let me know.

  4. Laura,
I ready this note last week and saw his name. I went to high school with him and caught his this weekend on SIRIUS.
With all due respect to what is on in Philly sports radio, he is much more polished and professional sounding than what is airing in most slots on both 610 and 950.
Why do we get the re-treads and sub par local talants when a Philly guy is doing ESPN and local shows in Atlanta. He would have to want to do philly talk over all that or is ESPN paying him too much to leave Atlanta?
I never heard him till yesterday and he would be a superior listen to almost anything airing in this market.
